On May 10, 2013, the AGBU Young Professionals of Athens (YP Athens) had a meeting with Armenia’s Ambassador to Greece, Gagik Ghalatchian, and his deputy, Minas Martikian, to discuss various community issues and brainstorm ways that YP Athens can provide support to the embassy. YP Athens leadership informed the diplomats about the global AGBU Young Professionals Network and its activities, as well as the work carried out by the local YP group.

Ghalatchian and Martikian explained the projects and programs Armenia’s Ministry of Diaspora has in place for Diaspora youth. The Armenian Genocide 100th Anniversary, and the need for a joint commemoration by the Armenian community of Greece, was also discussed at the meeting, with the YP members expressing their spirit of cooperation and willingness to help.

Later that month, YP Athens hosted its “Go Green” networking mixer to raise funds for the Pan-YP Greenhouse Project, which will build greenhouses in the village of Barekamavan in the Tavush province of Armenia. Around 70 YPs gathered at the Recipe Bar in Kifissia, Athens
